Songkhla, Thailand — A dramatic and heart-warming scene unfolded during heavy flooding in Songkhla province, where a Golden Retriever risked its own safety to rescue five stranded kittens from rising floodwaters.
According to local witnesses, the floodwaters surged rapidly through several low-lying areas after continuous rain. In the chaos, a litter of young kittens became trapped near a partially submerged house. With no humans immediately nearby, a Golden Retriever stepped in to protect them — a moment that quickly became the talk of the community.
The dog was seen carefully gripping one kitten in its mouth, while the remaining four clung tightly to its back as it swam through chest-deep water. Despite strong currents and debris drifting past, the Golden Retriever pushed forward steadily, refusing to abandon the helpless animals.

Residents reported that the dog swam for nearly 15 seconds across the flooded street until reaching a patch of dry ground where rescuers later gathered the animals. Video captured by bystanders shows the exhausted but determined dog emerging from the water, still keeping the kittens secure and unharmed.
Local villagers praised the dog as a hero, calling the rescue a powerful reminder of loyalty, instinct, and compassion — even in the face of natural disaster. Many online viewers have since shared and reshared the video, describing it as “the most touching moment of the flood.”
Authorities continue to monitor the flooding situation in Songkhla while animal aid volunteers ensure the kittens and the heroic dog receive care, shelter, and food.
